Product Review

The Vax V-006 Turboforce bagless upright vacuum uses cyclonic technology which separates dirt from the air, reducing emissions which is great for allergy sufferers. It is easy to use and includes an integrated Vax Turbotool which is ideal for picking up stubborn pet hairs, as well as great for use on stairs, car interiors and upholstery. Along with quick-release dirt disposal, its HEPA filtration system helps the V-006 Turboforce vacuum to minimise allergy triggers into the home.

Cyclonic Technology: Once dust is collected it enters the dirt bin and is spun at a high velocity around the dirt bin. This spinning causes dust particles to be thrown from the air path. Cleaner air then continues through the HEPA filter, and out into your environment, reducing the triggers of allergies.

HEPA filtration: (High Efficient Particle Arrester) - a high level of filtration, which traps smaller dust and dirt particles, preventing contamination of the environment. This type of filtration is better for homes with allergy sufferers

No bags: V-006's bagless technology means that there is no need to buy bags - ever.

Brushbar height adjuster: Easily switch from vacuuming carpets to hard floors

Large dirt bin capacity: For use in larger homes - no need to empty the bin as frequently

Wide cleaning path: Ideal for use over larger areas.

Summary: Makes vacuuming hard work

Comment:
Have lived with this vacuum for 2 years during which time it has driven me mad!! The suction is good, but as a previous reviewer has said, adjusting the brush height means it either sucks your carpet off the floor or it completely ignores the dirt. Very hard to get just the right height. A real Vax filter set costs £20, and is recommended to be changed annually. Vacuuming was generally hard work, manoeuvrability is not fantastic, and it had trouble picking up pet hair. By contrast, my new Dyson does everything suberbly and effortlessly, but then it did cost 3 times as much.

Summary: Disappointing

Comment: I agree with the worst review of this cleaner. I bought it because of the good reviews on this website ( were they just trying to sell it??)and I sooo regret it! The filter is a pain as described and worse if you accidentally throw it away with the dust it costs £15 to replace so be careful! The flex comes out at the bottom of the cleaner and so tangles up in the wheels. The suction is mega it will pull your carpets off the floor and stick itself to your laminate! Turn it down to a lower setting and it leaves everything behind! Heavy, awkward, don't buy it, I wish I hadn't. Anyone want a 8 month old one???

Summary: broke down after 18 months

Comment: On the plus side the suction on this vacuum cleaner is terrific but it is very heavy to push and the brush bar gets clogged up very quickly. It's also awkward to empty as you have to remove the dust laden filter before you can empty the container. It is difficult to remove the dust from the filter. I generally tapped it on the side of the bin but dust goes everywhere. The usability of the tools is easier than the Dyson I had but the crevice tool is not a patch on the Dyson.
I put up with all these inconveniences but now after just 18 months it has packed up. At least my Dyson lasted 7 years.
My predicament now is what do I buy next

Summary: Broke down within 18 months - Vax not interested

Comment: We bought this on account of good Amazon reviews to replace a duff Dyson (2nd duff Dyson we have owned I am afraid to say). Unfortunately from day one my wife and daughter both complained about it being difficult to manouvre - seems to me that the small rear castor design is to blame. The machine has now packed up completely after just 18 months - my wife complained of a burning smell and poor pick-up. Seems that the roller brush rotates on an inner metal bearing rod - this has seized, causing the belt to burn and the roller brush to stop rotating. Vax is only willing to sell me the new parts despite this clearly being a manufacturing or design fault - clearly they are not concerned about their reputation, so they deserve this unflattering review!

Think carefully about buying this model!

Summary: Overall satisfied but could be better!!!

Comment: Have this unit now for 3 or 4 months and got it direct from Amazon where I got it cheaper than now April 08 from another shop here at Amazon.

Cons
1. unit comes in bits and one has to assemble it. I'm not sure if this everyone's job to manage. I didn't have any problems. While I'm a mechanical engineers and like this kind of things most, like my wife, would not have the nerve to get it together.
2. TOOOOOOOOO noisy. Really, I'm not sure if your vacuum cleaner is as noisy as this one but it sounds like a jet taking of. We only use it when we're sure that next door neighbours are not sleeping.
3. the carpet type adjuster which lifts or lowers the brush from the carpet doesn't work very well. Either it too high and doesn't touch the piles or it's too low and jams the brush against the piles what renders the brush useless.
4. the bagless container is a joke, to say the least. I have never got it completely full and the filter gets all full of dust which cannot easily get cleaned unless you bang it against something. When doing so make sure you have it inside a bag otherwise you'll get full of dust. This is just a rubish design.
5. the long power lead is okay for moving away from the power socket but this also makes it easy to get tangled with the brush and gets in the way when moving around.

Pros (not many I'm afraid to comment)
1. it has a light at the front which makes it easier to see where you're pointing the thing to clean and also you then can see clearer if what you wanted to pick up has been.
2. the succion power is good and when the brush doesn't get stuck the combination succion power and brush really cleans the carpet.

Cannot figure out any other positive points on this rubish cleaner.
